John Bitner, an 11th-grader at Calvin Christian High in California, won the Division 2 boys junior race at the 42nd ASICS Mt. Carmel Cross Country Invitational at Balboa Park's Morley Field in San Diego. Bitner covered the 3-mile course in 16:33.1 to hold Kai Lange-Dei of High Tech High from Chula Vista in 16:33.7. Calvin Christian prevailed with 34 points.
