Calvin Christian senior Ryan Thomsen tied for second place with Zach Podraza of Scripps Ranch after day 1 in the decathlon at the Arcadia Multis with 3,340 points. Thomsen had 3,298 points at the midway point last year on his way to finishing seventh with 6,039 points.
